Carbon Co-burner
Reaching Boiling Point
Every commercial boiler serving an office, school, hospital, industrial unit, or public building produces CO2, and other harmful emissions, resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels to generate heat/power. In addition, the cost to operate the boilers has dramatically risen in recent years as oil and natural gas prices continue to climb higher. The cycle will only be perpetuated as fossil fuel supply dwindles, and extraction costs for the remaining supplies increase.
As emission legislation begins to penetrate the industrial boiler segment, following the trend in larger power plant environments, a new solution is required.
Nviro's Carbon Co-Burning technology is a simple piece of equipment, that
augments existing equipment, allowing boiler operators to co-burn carbon powder
along-side their existing fuel source. Since carbon powder can be a renewable
biomass fuel, the overall consumption of fossil fuel and emissions drop. This
allows businesses that have invested heavily in traditional boilers to continue using this existing equipment, even
as emissions standards begin to tighten.
This technology provides a win-win solution for boiler operators: no boiler
equipment replacement is needed to meet new emissions standards.
Boiler Industry Growth
Just like larger power plants, industrial boilers are coming under increased legislation to reduce emissions. However, innovation has been slow to penetrate this stable, mature market, which presents a unique opportunity.

- Industrial boiler market is $1.97 billion and growing at a CAGR of 3%
- Kyoto emissions standards will apply to industrial boilers
- Biomass and other non-fossil fuel based innovations have not yet achieved market adoption
