Focus - Energy
Interesting Times
It is a widely held view that technology and innovation are the keys to overcoming the impending energy challenge that faces the world. The collective industry is reaching a tipping point, based on convergent trends in society (e.g. fears of global warming), economic factors (e.g. the price of oil), technological factors (e.g. hybrid cars that can be produced for roughly the same price as traditional vehicles), and geo-political factors (e.g. 60% of the global oil production comes from the Middle East). These trends are forcing many countries to examine new technologies, regulations and consumption patterns, to use innovative energy solutions to overcome the growing environmental challenges we face today.
Nviro's Outlook
Nviro's energy technologies are focused on solving immediate problems in the world, without the burden of drastically changing consumer behaviour or industry behaviour. Its clean coal technology, for example, can be adopted by power stations today to eliminate nearly all mercury and sulphur emissions without having to change any existing equipment or processes. Utilising Nviro's technology to process coal, prior to the normal combustion cycle, provides a cheap, clean anthracite coal fuel source for power plants – whether they are 4 years old or 60 years old. Coal plants benefit from cheaper input fuel and emission control costs, consumers benefit from cleaner air and lower in electricity costs.
Wanted: A New Approach
Depleting resources, global warming, and new innovation – are all contributing to a new outlook on energy.

- Only 40 years of oil reserves estimated to remain globally
- 65 years of natural gas reserves estimated to remain globally
- China's oil consumption has risen 35% in just the past 3 years alone
- 2006 was officially the warmest year on record, giving further impetus to the global warming debate
